Summer is finally here!  For June and July, we are embracing Clean Summer Fun and cooking and eating outdoors as much as possible.

  

DW loves sharing and making healthy recipes for all of you, now with a twist for summer. 

 

Destination Wellness is all about eating healthy, however eating healthy does not mean that you have to sacrifice on taste or experience in any way!!  We also love food that is fun and easy to make. 

 

Clean Summer Fun will have recipes that are fun, easy, and delicious – the next two months will include burgers, pizzas, grilling as well as other delicious recipes, drinks and juices/smoothies.

Essentials
  • Oils; Olive, Avocado and Sesame

  • Vinegars; Balsamic, Red Wine, Apple Cider and Rice Wine

  • Gluten-Free Flour

  • Wholemeal Flour

  • Almond Flour (also known as ground almonds)

  • Coconut Sugar or Palm Sugar

  • Coconut Aminos

  • Raw Nuts; Almonds, Walnuts and Cashews at minimum

  • Whole Grain Pasta

  • Grains and Legumes; Lentils, Quinoa, Barley, Brown and Black Rice

  • Proteins; Kidney Beans, Chickpeas and Black Beans

  • Canned fish of your preference

  • Stock; Vegetable and Chicken at minimum
  • Dairy Alternatives; Soy, Almond and Oat Milk, Coconut Milk (canned for recipes)

  • Dried Fruit; Raisins, Apricots, Dates and Cranberries

  • Nut Butters; Almond and Cashew

  • Unsweetened Cocoa Powder

  • Canned Tomatoes; Chopped, Plum and Sauce (Passata)

  • Spices - Often, herbs are best bought fresh to retain flavor, but spices are an essential part of your pantry. These will really depend on your taste and cuisine preferences, but some that are pretty widely used in healthy recipes include: Allspice, basil (fresh preferably), Bay leaves, Caraway seeds, cardamom, cayenne, chili powder, chipotle, cilantro, cinnamon, cloves, coriander, cream of tartar, cumin, curry, fennel, garam masala, garlic powder, ginger, herbs de Provence, Himalayan salt, lemon pepper, marjoram, mustard powder, nut meg, old bay seasoning (see recipe box if outside USA), oregano, onion powder, paprika (sweet and smoked), Parsley (fresh preferably), peppercorns, pumpkin pie spice, red pepper flakes, rosemary, sage, smoked salt, summer savory, tarragon, thyme, turmeric, za’atar, black Classification: Internal pepper, sea salt, and vanilla extract (which, I suppose, isn't technically a spice, but you should still have it).
