As part of my journey with juicing and smoothie, I am interested in recipes with protein powder. I thought protein powder is for guys who are working out and want to promote muscle gain. As usual, I did some research to find out more, here is what I found.
- Protein shakes promote muscle gain and improve performance and recovery. They also prevent muscle loss and may even help increase muscle mass during weight loss.
- Protein shakes may claim that their products help decrease body fat or promote weight loss, but protein shakes aren't a magic bullet for weight loss. Replacing meals with protein shakes may help you reduce your daily calories, which can help you lose weight.
My takeaway is adding protein powder to smoothies can help as meal replacements. I did more research on protein powders, found many of the store-bought ones are not so healthy and usually contain chemicals.
Shaklee protein powders are natural, I ordered the French vanilla plant protein, I wanted to give this a try. Kelly Gosse was kind enough to share some smoothie recipes from Shaklee, thanks Kelly. Here is my first Shaklee protein smoothie.
2 scoops Life Shake Vanilla 2 mandarin oranges (peeled) ½ Banana ½ cup low-fat coconut milk 8 oz. cold water
Put all ingredients into the blender, mix until smooth. Drink and Enjoy!
