Daily Choices

Due to the pandemic, we are more aware of Mindfulness than ever before. Most of us probably did not even think about Mindfulness that much before the pandemic. Mindfulness means different things to different people and that is all ok. The goal of mindfulness is what is important, finding happiness, joy and meaning in our lives.

I was reminded by a friend recently about something I told her years ago when I was going through my divorce. I did not have a difficult divorce like so many of my friends or other folks. However, any divorce is not easy. She asked me one day how I could still happy and smile every day. I told her it was a choice I made every morning when I woke up. She told me that has stuck with her for all these years and something she strives to do. I was so touched by this, that I had made a difference in someone’s life, especially such a great friend. I still live by that today, decide to be happy for what I have, not about what I do not have.

Some days we have to work harder than others to find happiness. Remind yourself of what you have to be grateful for and remind yourself are worthy. You are much braver than you know, you do the hard things every day. Maybe put up the picture in this post where you can see it every morning so you do not forget.

At the end of the day, think about what made you smile today. It can me something your partner, child, colleague said or did, or something silly you saw on social media. Typically, it is the small things that can make the difference so pay attention to them. Also, be aware of how you affect others, you just might be the reason that person smiles today. We are all in this together, stay connected, supportive and grateful.
