The Fig Martini is a fabulous autumn cocktail that I started serving 4 years ago as a mingling cocktail for Thanksgiving guests. By adding thyme it incorporates the depths of autumn with something earthy, fruity and not too sweet.

Thyme Simple Syrup:
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup water
8 or so sprigs of time
Melt sugar in water over medium high heat to prepare the syrup. Steep the thyme for two hours and decant to an airtight vessel. Keep refrigerated.
Cocktail:
One martini shaker
Martini glass with sugared rim
ice
2 oz fig vodka
1/2 oz thyme simple syrup
1/2 oz lime juice
1/2 oz cointreau or grand marnier
Place all ingredients in the martini shaker, shake well, pour into martini glass. Garnish with thyme sprig and section of a fig. Enjoy!!
