No one is immune to stress. It happens to all of us. However, we don’t have to let stress overtake our life and let it have a negative impact on us. Everyone needs to find way to help themselves cope with stress and clear your mind. Use these whenever you feel life is overwhelming and that you need to take a break.
Some days you wake up with your mind filled with stressful thoughts. You can’t stop thinking about that big project, bills you have to pay, taking care of your kids during home schooling, the list can be endless. It’s like a movie that plays on repeat in your mind. An endless loop that feeds itself and that you can’t get rid of.
Not only is this bad for your mental health, but it can also have adverse effects on your physical health too. Stress can trigger headaches, insomnia, high blood pressure, a weakened immune system, and so much more. That’s why it’s important to manage your stress and implement healthy habits to help you cope with it.
Clear your mind! This will help you take a step back from the situation, gain new insight on it, and come back to it with a refreshed point of view. Here are suggestions on how to clear your mind when you’re stressed:
Go for a walk, in nature if possible
Take a long hot bath
Use essential oils
Listen to music or a podcast
Write in a journal
Do something you love, like cooking
Hang out with your friends, if they are in your pandemic circle. If not, schedule a virtual call with friends
My go to for clearing my mind is running. I realized how much I rely on running to clear my mind when I did not run for 2 or 3 weeks due to Sweden was too cold for me to run, I am so happy to be out running again. I do have a backups, such as spinning, hiking and exercise classes which I take on Destination Wellness, am loving our new barre and pilates classess. And of course I love cooking, such a fun thing to do with someone else.
