When lacking Motivation




Like many of you who are trying to stay fit, I struggle with motivation and willpower to work out regularly. Some days motivation comes easy while other days it is nowhere to be found. I search for how to stay on track, every day. I can sometimes replicate other days while other days, I need that extra push. Here are some suggestions that I have found helpful.


Schedule a class. I have started pilates and barre since we launched our wellness website. I do these classes remotely, have found a couple of favorite instructors. Now, I can always talk myself out of working out but when I schedule and pay for a class, I always show up. Me showing up isn’t about the money, it is about me signing up and showing up.


Quotes. Yes, those silly cheesy quotes do help sometimes, here are some I enjoy:

- Be stronger than your strongest excuse.

- I am doing this for me.

- Be positive, patient and persistent.

- You don't have to be extreme, just consistent.

- Make it happen, girl. Shock everyone!

- A little progress each day adds up to big results.

- Willpower is like a muscle, the more you train it, the stronger it gets.

- If you aren't willing to work for it, don't complain about not having it.


Clear mind. Working out isn’t just for my body, it is also for my mind. Working out, whether is a fitness walk, pilates class, strength training, running, hiking, spinning (listing the type of workout I enjoy) clears my mind. These days our minds are way overthinking everything, any type of exercise helps with clearing your mind.


Satisfaction. Yes, total satisfaction is how I feel after a really good workout – physically and mentally. And satisfaction that I did it, I showed up and did my best. I showed up, like I said I would and tomorrow I will show up and be even better than today!
