At Destination Wellness we offer a 90 minute Ayurvedic massage which focuses on an individual treatment plan to balance, restore and nourish the body.

Ayurveda regards each individual as unique and so recognises the need for a customised approach to balance and true well-being. We are each a combination of three doshas (constitutions), Vata, Pitta and Kapha, with one or two being predominant. It the specific make up of our constitution or Prakriti, taken together with many other factors such as genetic background, geography, diet, lifestyle, relationships, work which determines our unique nature. Our specific constitutional make-up is as unique to us as our DNA code. It is the imbalance in our constitution or Prakiti which causes disorder in the body and mind.

The massage therapy process releases toxins (ami) from the body while simultaneously releasing pressure and stress via marma points and chakra release.

We aim to relax, loosen and stretch the muscles, releasing areas of tension and the build-up of toxins in the body. Through a range of massage techniques, and deep pressure on the contracted areas, you will experience increase blood flow and lymph drainage. As the muscles loosen and stretch, so the relaxation response is activated, the nervous system is calmed and balanced, mental and emotional tension is eased, and the body is realigned.

Benefits of  Ayurvedic Massage Therapy

Ayurvedic massages have been practiced for thousands of years in India and are renowned for their numerous health benefits. These benefits include:

Improved blood circulation

The various massage techniques used in Ayurveda help improve blood circulation throughout the body. This increased circulation promotes the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to the cells and organs, enhancing their functioning and supporting overall health.

Detoxification

Ayurvedic massages stimulate the lymphatic system, which aids in the removal of toxins (ama) and waste materials from the body. This detoxification process can improve overall health and vitality.

Boosted immunity

Regular Ayurvedic massages are believed to strengthen the immune system. The combination of improved circulation, detoxification, and stress reduction helps enhance the body’s natural defence mechanisms, making it more resistant to illnesses.

Pain relief

Ayurvedic massages can be effective in relieving muscular tension, joint pain, and stiffness. The application of warm oils and the use of specific massage techniques can help reduce inflammation, alleviate pain, and promote healing.

Improved skin health

Ayurvedic massages often involve the use of herbal oils that nourish and moisturize the skin. These oils can improve skin texture, promote a healthy glow, and help address skin conditions such as dryness or roughness.

Relaxation and stress relief

Obviously, Ayurvedic massages are deeply relaxing and help reduce stress and anxiety. The rhythmic and gentle strokes, combined with the use of aromatic oils, help calm the nervous system, promote relaxation, and induce a sense of well-being.

Improved sleep quality

Ayurvedic massages promote relaxation and help alleviate insomnia or sleep disorders. The soothing massage techniques and the use of calming oils can induce a state of deep relaxation, leading to better sleep quality.

Improved emotional health

Ayurvedic massages have an incredibly positive impact on emotional health by addressing the mind-body connection, promoting balance in the body’s energy systems, releasing emotional blockages, improving energy flow, and promoting the release of endorphins. All of which profoundly contribute to an improved emotional state.
